Today consumers are insisting medical and healthcare facilities provide a holistic healing and nurturing atmosphere. Recognizing the value and utility of color, designers can create friendly environments for healing while addressing patients’ safety issues. Older eyes do well with higher levels of contrast which can more clearly define steps, walls and doorways; preferring generally warmer hues of yellows, oranges, reds and burgundy. Holistic colors, reflecting nature’s cornucopia provide warm cozy environs reminiscent of home and a caring facility.
